You may have heard the phrases “every aspect of life” and “all aspects of life.”
They are often used when something happens that is likely to impact someone’s life on every level.
Then, someone might say, “It is going to impact every aspect of my/your life.”
But what are the different aspects of life?
Whilst there are countless aspects if you dig down into the detail, there are 10 that are more important than the rest.
From most to least important (roughly speaking), they are…
1. Your Health
When you are in good health, you are able to get on and do the other things that matter in life.
When you are in poor health, your ability to embrace all that life has to offer can sometimes be limited.
This doesn’t just apply to your physical health; your mental health is just as important.
Looking after yourself and prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being is a very good idea.
For many people, family is all important.
Your family is an ever-present feature of your life.
Though you may place a higher value on it at different times of your life, it still ranks highly in the vital aspects of life.
Your definition of what you call family may change as you go through life. New additions such as spouses or children of your own may enter, whilst older generations will inevitably leave you.
But however the family unit changes, it provides many benefits and poses many challenges.
Many people will spend a large proportion of their adult life in one form of work or another.
It takes up a large amount of our time and energy, sometimes even when we are not supposed to be working.
“What do you do?” is one of the most common questions to ask when you meet someone for the first time, and this shows just how big a piece of our lives our occupation is.
Your work can have a large impact on the other aspects of life, particularly on your health, your family life, and your…
4. Home Life
When you’re not working, much of your remaining time will be spent at home.
Your home life encompasses those direct family members you live with and all of the things that are required to keep life running smoothly.
Laundry, cooking, childcare and entertainment, gardening, paying bills, school applications, making travel arrangements… the list goes on and on.
Whilst you may get enjoyment out of some of these things, they are also things that just need doing, one way or another.
You can’t choose your family. You have limited control over your work colleagues. But you do have a say over who you call a friend.
Friends are important for many reasons, and different friends might provide different benefits.
Some friends – your best friends – are there for you through thick and thin. They provide support when needed and offer a profound emotional connection.
You might have other friends with which you do certain things – travel companions, sport buddies, or music mates.
Though, for most people, friends can never replace family, they do offer something different that you may not be able to get from your family.
6. Spirituality And Beliefs
For some people, their spiritual beliefs are of great significance in their life.
Whether this is as part of an organized religion, or simply a regular practice such as meditation, the spiritual side of life can matter a great deal.
It might be a matter of faith or of living one’s life based upon one’s beliefs.
Either way, it can permeate through other aspects of your life and impact the way you do things.
Enjoying yourself in one way or another is essential from time to time.
Whether you call it fun, peace, contentment, or joy, recreation can bring out many positive emotions.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s reading books, restoring classic cars, or baking, the things you choose to do in your spare time must be things you place a large value on.
These things might include your friends or family. They may revolve around your health and well-being. They may also have a large impact on your finances (which is something we’ll come to).
8. Personal Growth
Nobody remains the same throughout their life.
Whether through their own hard work and effort, or because of the events and situations they face, people change.
Everyone has it within themselves to grow and develop as a person, and this is aspect of life is often underappreciated.
This could involve formal education to gain new skills and knowledge.
It could involve a more personal journey of self-discovery and working on the various positive or negative traits we may want/have.
It could also involve the help of a professional to guide us down more fruitful future paths.
Whatever form it takes, personal growth is something that never stops.
Many people don’t necessarily feel like part of a community, but we are all a part of one whether we realize it or not.
These communities often reveal themselves during times of crisis when people come together – sometimes without even knowing one another – to help those in need.
Community could, of course, be something you are already very aware of. Perhaps you are part of a group or organization that feels like a community and does work in the wider community.
The influence of your community might be felt in many ways, from the flowers planted in local green spaces to the care given to those who find themselves homeless. You just have to open your eyes and see it.
For many people, money is something that regularly weighs on their minds.
And while it can impact some of the previous points, it’s placed last on this list to emphasize that it, in an ideal world, it shouldn’t be your primary focus.
Yes, having sufficient money to live well and stay healthy is preferable, but life should not revolve around the state of your bank balance.
In this modern world, it pays to remember that.
So these are the 10 most important aspects of life that you need to pay attention to.
At various points in your life, one or two of these may come to the forefront and take over for a while, but, in general, maintaining a good balance between them is desirable.
If you can do that, you’ll create a life that is both fulfilling and pleasant.
